SECTION 1: PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION STATEMENT

Introduction

“Personal Data” is defined under the PDPA to mean personal information, whether true or not and whether in electronic or other form, about an individual who can be identified:

from that data; or
from that data and other information to which we have access to or are likely to have access to.

Examples of personal data are your name, address, NRIC/FIN/Passport number, photograph or video image, telephone numbers and email addresses.

Purposes for Collection, Use & Disclosure

Depending on your relationship with Barclyne College International (BCI) —for example, as an applicant, student, alumnus, staff member, faculty member, donor, vendor, service provider, parent, guardian, or recruitment agent—the personal data we collect from you (including photographic images and video recordings) may be collected, used, and/or disclosed for the following purposes:

Evaluating suitability for admission or employment, processing enrolments or appointments, and providing educational programmes and training. This includes sending course materials, study resources, timetables, and examination information via post, email, SMS, fax, and/or voice calls.
Administering and managing your relationship with BCI, including responding to enquiries, issuing correspondence, statements, or notices, which may involve disclosing certain personal data to facilitate delivery.
Assessing, monitoring, and reporting on student performance, attendance, and disciplinary records.
Supporting students’ learning through curricular and co-curricular activities, such as field trips, competitions, and enrichment programmes.
Providing pastoral care, counselling, and student support services.
Delivering healthcare and wellness services, where appropriate.
Facilitating applications for student passes or other permits, where applicable.
Processing payments for goods and/or services provided by BCI or third parties on BCI’s behalf. This may include verifying bank or credit card details with external parties and using provided personal data for fraud detection and prevention.
Responding to complaints, feedback, requests, or enquiries from government bodies or other regulatory authorities.
Informing students, parents, guardians, or related parties of school events and updates, such as through newsletters or announcements.
Maintaining and updating student, staff, and alumni records.
Preparing financial, regulatory, management, or survey reports and statistics for administrative and business purposes.
Taking photographs and/or videos (by BCI staff or appointed third parties) during school events or activities for publicity, marketing, and archival purposes.
Engaging alumni through activities such as event invitations, Newsletters, surveys, and alumni-related initiatives.
Processing applications for, and administering, local or overseas career-related activities, programmes, internships, job placements, and career coaching. This may include sharing information with companies (local or overseas) for recruitment and placement purposes.
Complying with BCI’s internal policies and processes, as well as with any applicable laws, regulations, codes of practice, or official requests from courts, regulators, or government agencies.
Conducting due diligence or other screening activities (including background checks) as required by law, regulation, or BCI’s risk management policies, which may include obtaining references from prior educational institutions or employers.
Preventing, detecting, and investigating crimes, offences, or security breaches, including through surveillance such as CCTV monitoring on BCI premises.
Conducting debt recovery, including generating credit reports and sharing information with third parties for collection purposes.
Any other purposes reasonably related to the above.

By providing personal data to BCI (including data relating to third parties, such as parents or guardians), you confirm that consent has been obtained for the collection, use, and disclosure of the data for the purposes stated. If BCI intends to use your personal data for a new purpose not covered by this policy, we will notify you and seek your consent.

BCI ensures that your personal data will be kept confidential. When transferring personal data to authorised third-party service providers, agents, or related corporations (whether in Singapore or overseas) to fulfil the purposes outlined above, BCI will require them to ensure that the data is kept secure and used only for the agreed purposes.
